Reliance Jiomart of the Reliance group has started its operations across a few metro cities of the country. This O2O (Online to Offline) business platform has been launched after the signing of a commercial pact with Facebook’s Whatsapp to get a good reach among the people.

Keeping in mind of the strong partnership with Facebook, Jiomart has been launched where the customers could place orders in the nearest departmental store and receive the items at their doorstep. The services has begun in Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru & Kolkata.
Since Whatsapp has a huge number of users, it is expected that Jiomart can significantly gain more customers and get to a suitable position in the current market.
Previously, the operations were launched in suburban Mumbai, Navi Mumbai & Thane to test the efficiency of the process.
Jiomart has released no app in Playstore or Apple, but the customers can use jiomart.com to place orders. The company has not come up with the list of cities they will operate, but they have specified certain pincodes in which their services will be available.
Reliance jiomart operates in many retail stores, hypermarkets, supermarkets, wholesale stores, and so on. Jiomart will enable deliveries over a network which comprises 11784 retail outlets.
The website offers a wide diversion of categories which comprises dairy products, fruits & vegetables, personal care, baby care, etc. For orders above Rs.750, they waive delivery charges. But if the order falls below Rs.750, a delivery fee of Rs.25 will be added.
Jiomart is also keen on signing small kirana stores into their network to enable the customers to shop from their own neighborhood. This is done to expand more geographically and also to compete with the current e-commerce sites.
Since the country is fighting a pandemic and people are requested to stay indoors, this move of introducing a new platform to get the essentials delivered at doorstep is wise and commendable.
