Congress to launch ‘SpeakUp’ India campaign as a move to speaking up for the poor,migrants,small businesses on the 28th May
New Delhi: Congress Spokesperson, Ajay Maken on 27th of May has announced about a ‘SpeakUp’ India campaign which will be launched on 28th of May,2020 between 11 am and 2 am.
What is the ‘SpeakUp’ India campaign all about !?
Freedom of Speech is a fundamental right according to our Indian constitution. In parallel to this, with a digital touch, Congress has structured its campaign on all the social media platforms. This initiative is to bring out the sour feelings that the poor, migrants, small businesses are facing.
The ‘SpeakUp’ India campaign will run for about five hours on the 28th of May where around fifty lakh party leaders, workers, and sympathizers will run the campaign on their digital platforms namely Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube accounts.

Other demands of the Indian National Congress:
Ajay Maken further added their demands as follows,
- Transportation facilities to be arranged for migrants and ensuring safety for them.
- Increasing the employment days to 200 under the MGNREGA scheme.
- Providing Rs 10,000 as immediate financial help to the poor besides financial package for small industries.
Punjab Congress Chief, Jarkar’s appeal:
Sunil Jarkar on Wednesday appealed to the senior party leaders, MPs, MLAs, executive members and booth workers to join hands and to become a part of this campaign. He adds that, this will help in the reach and success of the campaign.
A past notable move of Congress towards migrant workers during the Covid19 crisis:
On the 4th of May, Congress has criticized the government for not able to provide free railway tickets. Eventually Sonia Gandhi announced that Congress will offer free tickets to the migrants.
She further added, that every Pradesh Congress Committee will take a serious note of this situation and will bear the cost for the rail travel of every needy worker and migrant laborers. She feels that this will be INC’s humble contribution in service of the compatriots and firm support for the migrants.
