Companies to hike salaries to give hands to employees in tough times
In addition to the recession, India is facing the worst scenario due to the impact of COVID. In spite of job losses, pay cuts, and layoff by many companies still few firms prefer to hike salaries for their employees. The firms such as Hindustan Unilever, Flipkart, Myntra, Asian paints, and few other firms have chosen to hike salaries of their employees lending their helping hand in tough times. This great relief offered by the companies to employees in this pandemic will be an unforgettable goodwill.
The MD and CEO of BSH appliances stated that it is the duty of the companies to treat their employees with empathy during the uncertainty and bad times. The company has cut down the travel and marketing cost, instead it chose to hike salaries of the employees and offer promotions. The CEO of the inflection point said that their organization puts employees in the first place so that they can make things happen for the company at any cost.
The firms such as Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, and Infosys have deferred hikes. The salary cut was made by companies like TVS, Reliance, and Oyo rooms whereas Ola, Uber, and Zomato fired their employees. An HUL spokesperson said that it follows an April-March cycle such that the variable pay and increments for the current year has been already paid.
Bharat Pe has given a 20% increment to their high performers. Myntra completed all its performance appraisal process and recruited around 280 people in this lockdown. The Asian paints also said that it chose to hike salary to their employees despite the COVID.
